Brazil is said to produce a third of all the coffee in the whole world, and has held this title for the last 150 years. Coffee plantations cover about 27,00km squared of the whole country, and the southeastern states of Minas Gerais, Sao Paula and Parana have the ideal climate and environment for producing high quality coffee. The magic bean first arrived in Brazil in the 18th century, and became the worlds dominant producer by the 1840’s. At one point in the 1920’s Brazil accounted for 100% of the worlds coffee, but since the 1950’s and increased global production that is obviously no longer the case.
